To unlock alternate color tunics for Link. That's just for the first and fifth Illustrations completed, though. Haven't finished two, so I don't know anything else about it.

You earn the Zora tunic by beating one mission, and the Goron Tunic for beating five of them. Along with that you earn 40k every time you complete them.

Beat one stage get the blue tunic, beat all five and get the red tunic. Each mission is based on one of the illustrations. They are unique but difficult battles.
