It would've been cool if SS was in the distant future, finding an advanced destroyed Hyrule below, with the technology stuff here and there. Ganon would awaken, realizing he had not wiped out the line of Zelda, because they escaped to the clouds.

Ok so one last final vote between Ocarina of Time and Skyward Sword. Which one?

As I said before, though SS is the beginning of everything, OoT litterally connects to every Zelda game & EVERY Zelda after it 1) references it in some way & 2) assumes you've played OoT. So, it's best to play the classic first. Also, the graphics shift is the most jaring from OoT to any later game. OoT also introduces you to Puzzles & game mechanics every Zelda after has either used or improved.

The graphics were up-dated in the 3D rerelease, so you probably don't need to worry about that... Stupid 3 minute wait between posting again...

Haha ok. Thanks so much for your insightful input! I'll most likely just go with OoT then. I'm good to play the 3DS realease, yes?

From what I understand, the plot & most of the gameplay is the same between the original & OoT3D. There were a few changes outside of graphics though, which make the rerelease easier: 1) They changed how the Iron Boots are equipped, due to fan complaints. I understand why they changed it, but didn't have a problem with it. It mostly affects the Water Temple. 2) They made the Water Temple easier.

They literally made the Water Temple easier, again due to fans who weren't true Zelda fans complaining it was to hard. In addition to the boots, the moved some Items & color-coded stuff to make navigating the labyrinth easier. It's a Water Temple! They're ALWAYS long, complicated, labyrintine death traps! They're ALWAYS the hard Temple!

Also, Majora's Mask is an immediate sequel to OoT. & Twilight Princess (possibly my current favorite), is a time-skip sequel. Both games are direcly part of one of its timelines. According to the Hyrule Hysteria, & my understanding before it was released, confirming it, both are part of the Child branch of the official Timeline. The location of a few things in TP only make sense if you play OoT.

SS is the beginning of the entire series. after ocarina I would recommend skyward sword I would really say Skyward sword first but it seems to me you made your decision Skyward Sword is my all time favorite it also marks the 25th Anniversary of Zelda ^_^

The New Zelda game is going to be a sequel to Skyward Sword there are various elements we all saw from skyward sword on the new Zelda cottage. Sure Oot and MM are great, but SS and the New Zelda is really where the real fun is at ...looks lime someone has a lot of Zelda to go through til the end of next year ^_~ when the new Zelda is released.

Phantom Hourglass, as well as Spirit Tracks, are direct sequels (same Link, just like OoT & Majora's Mask are the same Link) to Wind Waker, though. You don't want a Zelda n00b starting a sequel without playing at least the 1st one of that trilogy.
