This is probably just me but, why do bows suck? I mean no matter which bow and coating i use i always end up failing to kill any of the bigger monsters or run out of time trying, my brother says he killed that anoying fire bird wyvern thing with a bow, something tells me he is lying but i don't know. My bow is the Queen Blaster 1.

Regardless if you just started your game for the first time or that you are a pro hunter bow are strong enough to slay a monster. "If it bleeds we can kill it". But if you are still having trouble using bow I suggest using other weapons, after all they are all the best because each weapon has advantages and defects.

Are you making use of full charge and arc shots or are you spamming level one shots?

A friendly note: Weaponmaster armors have more defense than Gunmaster armors. So your problem might be three things: 1. lack of defense points, 2. lack of attack points, 3. try to practice dodging attack to gain the upper hand in the hunt.

Keep in mind the distance between you and your target. There is a perfect distance for maximum damage. Being too close or slightly too far will decrease your raw slightly, being significantly too far will greatly reduce it, and if you are way too far your arrows won't even reach.

No weapon type can be better than any others each just fits a certain play style

If you are new to the game, I would highly recommend trying a different weapon type. Bows and Gunbows are some of the most difficult weapon types to get the hang of. Both can be very powerful and are fully capable of slaying any monster, but they are tricky to use.

Are you kidding me bows are the easiest gunner weapon to use. Plus its my personal favorite gunner weapon. But I don't know why you think your little bro lyed about killing a Qurupeco with a bow. Just means he can acctually use one and you can't.

You're using it wrong. To start you off - 1st charge = 50% of raw* 2nd charge = 100% of raw 3rd charge = 150% of raw 4th charge = 170% of raw With bows, you always want to match elements, you kill times will certainly go up if you do that. Also, Power Coats are a 50% damage boost to your shots when applied, so use if they're available. Good luck! *Shorter word for damage (without element).

Prsboys are you serious? I am somewhat noob to game but i am on what "appears" to be the last set of missions. Arch, charging shots, and coating don't seem to help me, bows just aren't my weaponry, too little power, too high learning curve. I can use Bowguns just fine, just not bows.Actually my main weapons are the Dual swords, Switch axes and Hammers, everything else is too slow for me.

Can you tell me what quests you say are "the last set of missions"? And you did mean Qurupeco at the beginning yes? Just trying to get an idea of where you are at.

I have Solo'd many large monsters with bows. Fully charged blows to the monsters weak points (usually the head) are key. If you are just shooting at the legs or body, you're not being efficient. Also, use coatings CONSTANTLY. You need to bring materials to mix more in the field, because you will run out fast otherwise. If you can paralize or put to sleep, don't waste the barrel bomb opportunity.

Be sure to actually APPLY the coatings, of course (just selecting them is not applying them). Bring Dash Juice so you can keep firing Fully charged shots without getting tired. Also, learn how to use each kind of shot to maximum effect. Hit broadside with spread to hit with all arrows. Fire through body (in mouth, out tail) with pierce for multi-hit maximum.

@Timothy don't worry bro. I once didn't like bows either a long time ago on older mh games and thought that they were pretty useless solo at least especially early on in the game since its true that bows are way better by endgame but once i gave it another chance and defeated white fatalis with it i knew then that bows were more powerful than i thought. The thing with bows like with all range-

Good use of Arc-Shot is important as well. Blast does explosion damage which ignores armor, so aim for head or armored points. Great for making them stumble and halt as well. Focus and Wide do multi-hit, so try to make all contact for maximum affect. Aiming is KEY. Don't just fire randomly. If its head is UP, aim UP. Anticipate, Aim Arc shots where the monster Will-Be by the time it comes down

-weps is that u gotta keep a certain distance when firing ur arrows for better damage but there are coatings that makes ur shots more powerful up close as well. Also always charge up ur shots for better maximum damage and knowing which spots to aim for is important as well which really isn't hard to figure out. Another thing is elements, elements are VERY important on a bow and is its main source-

Lastly, as with All Weapons, don't forget to UPGRADE. Use the highest level bows you can create from the materials you can get at your rank/level. If you can get all the parts your bow needs to upgrade without ranking up first ... do so. That is the level weapon you want for the toughest monsters at your current level. Or, make a stronger one from parts easier to get. Once again ... AIM.

-of power when facing any monster. Having the right element and the right type of bow that allows for the type of shots u want against certain monsters is key, along with the coatings.
