How are you supposed to make any progress on this game if you have to keep going back in time? (That's more a rhetorical question.) I'm a slow player--I like taking my time! I don't want to be rushing around everywhere! Hopefully I can get the hang of this game soon. Anyway, that's all for me for tonight. Goodnight Miiverse.

  • It's not like you have to... You can always go back and take note of what you're doing right or wrong It's what make it so special and intense n,n hopefully you'll get to enjoy it as much as many of us do

  • There's no rush. For each cycle, focus on either exploring, or making progress. "Progress" is finding a new item, or activating a new warp point. These are saved when you go back in time. For example: You reach the Southern Swamp and activate the owl statue. You then need more time to explore the swamp. So you reset time, and then warp to the statue you activated, and start exploring.

  • (Continued) When you reach the entrance of the dungeon, there will be another owl statue. Activate it so you can warp back to it later. Now reset time. Once time is reset, warp to the entrance of the dungeon. You now have a full 72-hour cycle to work on the dungeon. If that's not enough, it's probably enough to find the item, which lets you skip half the dungeon if you need to try again.

  • Remember, it's a time loop — NOT a time limit. There's no rush. There are no missables. If you miss something, you can always get it back by resetting time. So take it easy. Dedicate a full three days to just having fun and exploring, if you wish. Then when you have an idea of something you want to get done, dedicate a three-day cycle to that. And so on.

  • The advantage of this time system — and what makes Majora's Mask so special — is it allows the non-player characters to have schedules. Different characters do different things at different places at different times on different days — whether you're there to see it or not. Part of the joy of Majora's Mask is discovering these schedules and events and influencing their outcome. :-)

  • @Neiteio: Thanks for all the advice. Um, the Song of Time thing--someone else mentioned that on a different post of mine. How was this trick discovered, and is it considered "cheating"?

  • It's not considered cheating as it was implemented into the game and is shown as a real song on your ocarina song list. I always slow down time in dungeons to give me more time. Less rushed. :)

  • It is? I haven't noticed it in the song list yet. I'll have to check for it tomorrow!

  • Talk to the scarecrow at the Trading Post or Astral Observatory, and show him your ocarina.
