Rant coming up, unbelievable Nintendo! So I had to send my Wii U in for repairs a couple weeks ago and they sent me back a different Wii U. So I spent several hours redownloading games that were on my original Wii U, not to mention the thousands of hours of saved game data I lost (all Wii saves were on it too). One of the games was Wii Fit U. Because I have a hard drive, I didn't lose everything..

  • One thing that survived was my Wii Fit data that goes back to 2009. But now, b/c I'm using a different Wii U, when I turn on the game I'm getting the 30 day countdown that I need to register a Fit Meter to keep it. However, the option to register my Fit Meter doesn't show up in the game. So I called Nintendo. They had me try to reset the Fit Meter, and delete the Fit Meter (not a big deal)....

  • However, the game won't let me stating I'm using someone else's Fit Meter because the data is still tied to my original system which I don't have. Their solution after 30 minutes of holding and walking through steps? You got it, buy a new Fit Meter! Are you kidding? I think you've cost me enough Nintendo. If I lose access after these 30 days are up so be it. I'm not buying another Fit Meter.

  • That's strange. You've still got access to your eshop account (correct?) but this one game isn't showing up as purchased...Did you try re-downloading it directly from your account history? Maybe it'll download the full version instead of the free trial one. If nothing else, why can't they just credit your account? They could easily just press a button to unlock it for you.

  • Wow. That sucks. You have my sympathy. I had issues transfering my 3DS, and they were no help. It's ashame. Their service used to be top notch. It seems like it's declining lately. :/ Reconsider leaving all together, but I feel your pain. They are getting colder, and if they lose their customer support edge, they will definitely fall.

  • @Kevin, I just checked and the set up is just weird. You basically just download the trial version from the e-shop. You then have 31 days to play it. At the end of 31 days, if you haven't bought and synced a Fit Meter, you lose access. If you have, you get to keep it. There is no "full" version to download. Looks like in about 20 days I'll lose access. I can't even go back to Wii Fit w/o losing..

  • my current data. It's either buy a new Fit Meter or it's finished. I may call them back at some point and get mean till I get a supervisor. They are, in effect, asking me to buy the same game that I already bought. I'm sure it's not going to break them to send a loyal customer a $20 Fit Meter, if that's what it costs now. Add to that the fact the repair company didn't document a transfer attempt.

man, that's an obtuse setup. i bet that if you called them again and raised enough of a fuss, they'd just send you a new meter. but then you'd have to be a the phone for a while again...

  • They shouldn't even have to do that. They can just pull up your Eshop account and unlock the game from the trial nonsense. Isn't there an option to pay for the game without buying the meter? If not, the full game should have been included on a disc with every meter they sell. This is why Nintendo's recent push for digital games scares me.

  • (To be clear, I didn't mention paying for the game as something you should be expected to do...I meant it as a way customer service could simply credit your account for the full version.)

  • jason...so, with Wii Fit..there is a way to make your wiifit meter register as new, I did it recently...google it or..ugh. I'll try to find it.. I know there is a way out of your dilemma!!

  • Honestly, just for all the hours of hard work you out into your game saves, they need to get you your original console back. It is unacceptable to put a loyal customer through this kind of a hassle, unless they WANT to druve their fans away (and sometimes, I honestly do wonder). Your odyssey has convinced me to move ALL my game saves to my external hard drive. I'm so sorry for all your agony.

  • @Dry Bones: I'm pretty sure I've tried every possible way to get this to register, and it just won't work. There is an option in the game to reset or delete the Fit Meter, but it won't let me do either. @Pat: Yeah, as of now, everything important is now saved on my hard drive. However, there's always a chance that could break as well. I guess you should make backups every so often.

  • And to wrap this topic up, I did call Nintendo back today, twice. The first guy had me delete the game from my hard drive (not the save data), then unhook my hard drive, and then redownload on my Wii U from the e-shop. I did all of that and ended up with the exact same result. So I called again and this time they finally said they would send me a new Fit Meter. However, I have to send my...

  • old one to them first. I think this thing costs $10 now. So while I'm going to do it it really wasn't worth the $1 in postage I'll have to spend to get it to them and the probably 5 hours I spent calling them, talking to them, downloading, redownloading, and researching on my own to find a solution. But I am supposed to get a new one at some point.

  • Hopefully the "new" meter isn't somebody else's old refurbished one that also reads as "used" when you try to register it.
