The reason it's called 'New' Super Mario Bros. is because it's supposed to represent the revival of the original SMB-trilogy. Not because it's there to introduce completely new mechanics with every installment.

    Therefore, people who mock it by saying things like 'Same Super Mario Bros.' are technically wrong because of the context that the word 'New' is being used in.
