    You can on the Wii U by going to their profile and sending them a friend request (if they allow it). It's not possible on 3DS, and trading friend codes is prohibited on Miiverse for whatever reason.

    As you're on 3DS, you're stuck using Friend codes. I'll explain them in a minute, but if you're wanting to play online.... You need a Wii U, USB to ethernet cable, & the MH3U Packet Relay app. If you don't have all the stuff I listed, you're stuck with local multi play.

    Back to friend codes. You exchange them with other ppl. You give them yours, they give you their's. That's how you add ppl to your friend list. WARNING! posting your friend code or asking others to is a VIOLATION of Miiverse policy. If you post your FC, YOU WILL BE PUNISHED BY ADMINISTRATION. If you like being on miiverse, DO NOT POST YOUR FC. Sorry if I sound harsh, but I see way too many
