    Welcome to Monster Hunter. The most important advice I can give you is carefully read the the instruction manual and read everything the villagers tell you. There are handy beginers guide videos on YT by projared as well. And just take your time and have fun. I prefer to have these icons on the bottom screen on my 3DS...

    Upper left is health, time, stamina, oxygen and weapon info. When you click on it with your finger you can see some of your quest info too. Bottom left is the map. Click on it to change the size. Upper right is camera control. Tap on the virtual contral pad to help move the camera. Experiment in the options menu to find the camera settings that suit you. Lower Right is the Monster targeting...

    icon. When there is no monster in your area, the square is grey. Once a large monster sees you however, then the icon becomes detailed. Tap the detailed icon and a cursor will appear over the top of it. Now whenever you tap the L shoulder button, the camera will find the large monster and focus on it. When there are two large monsters in the same area, you can choose which one to target.
