    It seems to me that the game is designed to kick your butt for at least the first several hours you play. Then slowly you start picking up the finer points of using Witch Time and special moves and weapons, and the whole thing just opens up. Keep at it, just remember you have to be a whipping boy before you can become a destroyer of worlds.

    What Jimbo said. Don't be afraid to try the game on Very Easy to get used to it. I know I did and I gradually got better. If you ever played DMC, you might have some familiarity with the controls.
