Bayonetta is one of those games that I simply DO NOT understand. I mean, I finished it on 360 and now I'm playing it through on Wii U... It's a great character action game, it plays really well, but other than it playing well, I don't get it... and I think I'm one of the few people who is willing to admit that. Great game, I have no idea what's going on, other than hyper-style everywhere.

  • I haven't yet, didn't really think much of seeing it in the first place to be honest. But, I don't really think this game is really meant to be thought through in terms of plot and story and rather just admired for its sense of style. At least, that's the feeling I get... even though I don't get this game lol.

  • But that's kind of the point of the game. Just random chaotic violence everywhere you look. I think it adds a lot of charm to the game.

  • I guess random chaos doesn't jive with me as much as it does others. I'm just saying that while I like the game, it plays well, I can't seem to love it like others seem to. I had more fun with Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance than I do with Bayonetta with the big difference being that Reveangence has more of a direction that I can hold onto and understand.

  • But I guess, when you think about it, Bayo is kind of like Mario in that you just run and jump and get to the end of the stage without really thinking about why.

  • Yeah, it's definitely not for everyone. Usually I like Zelda style adventure puzzle games, but sometimes I'll just go for some weird stuff like Bayonetta.

  • The funny thing is that I've played stranger and more obscure games than Bayonetta, it's just that this game has somehow stumped me.

  • I dunno, I'm glad that Nintendo did choose to support the funding of Bayonetta 2 and bring the series to a Nintendo console. I like to think of Nintendo as an inclusive company, not an exclusive one.

  • Have you played Devil May Cry? It's somewhat similar to that game.

    Yeahs1
  • Yeah, big fan of Devil May Cry since it first came out (not a fan of the latest one though). I'm very into character action games in general.

  • You seem like the kind of person that may already know this, but did you know that the first Devil May Cry started out as a beta of Resident Evil 4?

    Yeahs1
  • Yup, and Dante came from Leon. Another version of RE4 that got turned into a game is called Haunting Ground (aka Demento in Japan). In fact, RE4 ended up spawning a number of concepts that became other games on the PS2 in one form or another lol. Funnily enough, The Evil Within on PS4/XBO/PC takes a few elements from older versions of RE4 as well. Mikami put A LOT of effort into that game.

  • And his effort was worth it. But imo, I don't bame Mikami-san for getting mad when it was ported to PS2. I wouldn't want fans playing an infirior verson of a game I put so much effort into either.

  • Yeah, it's really the ongoing struggle of the creative freedom and business aspects of the video game industry that people have to deal with. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

  • l tried Bayonetta 2, and wondered if everyone would be so hyped if it didn't feature a naked witch with trendy hipster glasses

    Yeahs2
  • I'm not really a fan of Bayonetta herself, to be honest. Like I said, there is much about these games that I don't get... but one thing I do know is that the gameplay is SOLID. Aside from that *shrugs* whatever.

  • Ever since fighters went 3d it's just been memorizing what order to press the buttons, with no directional manouvering to execute specials. No matter how flashy the game looks, this bores me

    Yeahs0
  • Yeah, Bayonetta's design is a bit... Um... Revealing for a game exclusive to a Nintendo console. Whenever someone sees me playing it's really embarrassing but I can't stop because thecombat is just so brilliant. In fact, it's not really the nakedness of her design that puts me off but the way the camera kind of follows her crotch...
