Working on a big project, but I've hit a technical wall with (surprise) Graphics Memory performance. This makes me question the promise of infinite possibilities when I can't execute my vision the way I see it in my head and instead must use resources in an almost frugal manner, cut corners, or just completely cut (sections). It takes me out of my process to have to appease the game. Frustrating.

  • I had the same problem with my 'OFF TO NEVERLAND GAME'! The only way to solve my problem was to make (and link) 4 individual levels. You could try that maybe? I'm trying to make a Guardians of the Galaxy game, but this time i'm going to try using the satellite receiver. But I still need to learn how to work it... The limitations ARE frustrating.

  • I know what you mean by having to sacrifice your details because of space. I ended up deleting alot of detail in 'MERIDA'S CASTLE', just so I could have a playable game.

  • From what I can find, if this is the same thing I think it is, this actually appears to be a bug in the Wii U version of the game. Like, there are times where even a nearly empty Toy Box will even say that the Graphics Memory is full. I've been attempting to contact the Infinity team about this situation.

  • Glad to know I'm not alone, Cyrie. Your suggestion to have multiple connecting levels is a good one. Reconstructing whole sections in a new Toy Box is too taxing, so I'll have to plan so I can better anticipate these obstacles for my next project. I've been meaning to get acquainted with the Satellite Receiver. I figured it was essentially another Toy Box Door. Is there more functionality to it?

  • Oh, is that so, Tim? I do recall someone posting about a similar problem but with an INterior -- that they didn't have many elements but still ran into difficulties.

  • Cyrie, has it ever happened to you that a Toy Box Door you linked later said you had to reassign the location, as it had switched to "Level 1" or what have you, rather than the actual location? It's happened to me several times and I've learned how to work with it, but it scared me a few times because it seemed my main level had vanished (not in the content list under Select World) when it hadn't.

  • Cyrie, I just watched a tutorial on the Disney Infinity YouTube channel regarding how to use the Satellite Receiver. It's a bit hard to follow, so I didn't watch the whole thing. It's something I'll need to test out on my own. But there is a warning at the end of the video that deals with challenge submissions, so that's something to take note of.

  • The Wii U really has a very limited physical graphics memory. It is not realy a bug. As Cyrie suggested, connect mulitple levels together is the only way to make a good game. The limits are with Nintendo's design. The other systems don't have the same limits. When 3.0 comes out, I am getting it for a PS4. Nintendo needs to quit with their week graphic limits on their systems.

  • @Tim, that bug is if you scroll to fast through the building selections, as far as hitting the limit with very few things. But as my post above, Nintendo's memory is more limited than the other systems.

  • I've had the toy box door fail me a couple of times. What I do is I prebuild all of my worlds, then hook them up. I also hide buttons that turn the wand back on, incase something needs adjusting. My new G.o.t. Galaxy game is going to be 5 levels, just so I can get everything the way I want it. I can't give any further details on the game yet.

  • That's a great idea -- having a spare, hidden button to turn editing capabilities back on. Thanks for sharing that!
