    It IS infinite, but it takes around 2 weeks(? I haven't checked the wiki in a while) of realtime to reach the Far Lands, which is where things become glitchy and progression becomes impossible due to falling through the world and whatnot. It IS infinite, it's just that after a while the amount of chunks generated strains the game so much, progression is impossible.
