    It has local co op. One player uses the gamepad the other uses another controller, no split screen.

    You could use a Wii U Pro Controller, or a Wiimote. Just go into free mode and have player 2 press start (I'm pretty sure that's how it works, or so the Internet has told me. I haven't actually tried it myself cause I have no one to play with).
