  Matt shrugged. Okay. He'd take it one step at a time. First, secure a place to stay. There was a hotel up on the hill. He checked his bag. He should have enough poke to stay at least the night. Second, figure out a plan. He needed to know what the heck he was doing, before anything else.

  Now that he had a plan at least partly worked out, Matt headed over to the hotel. After some smalltalk with the innkeep, he managed to get a small, one-person room. As Matt got out of the elevator, he fumbled with his keys. Eventually, he opened the door, revealing a cozy two-room living space. He immediately crashed on the bed, and sighed. He could rest up for now.

  Matt was up and awake, already on the trail, by nine. He had felt rested and refreshed, ready to start another day. "I need to head up through Mt. Mallow, and then past Rt. 62." He confirmed. He was facing the hiking trail right now. "Alright then." He concluded, stuffing his map back in his pack. "Onward." He said, and started his path around the mountain, with no idea what was about to come.

  The first few hours of his journey pass on eventfully. He had to run from wild pokemon a few times, but other than that, it was quite a peaceful place. At last, he reached the halfway point of his journey, at the apex of the mountain. "Well." He said, breathing the cold air. "I feel accomplished already!" Then he turned and continued his journey, taking the path down.

  Matt heard the rocks a second before they came. As he looked up, he saw a massive jumble of large rocks tumbling down from above. His reflexes were quick enough that he threw himself out of the way. But one of them hit his arm on the way down. Hard. He shrieked in pain, and then blacked out.

  Matt awoke in...Well, surrounded by...Bright light. He was floating, hovering in the air. His shirt and pants were in tatters. But when he looked down at his body, he was fine. "Where...Where am I?" He asked, stating the obvious question aloud. "Ah, that's always the question, isn't it?" A deep voice resounded. "H-Huh?" Matt stuttered.

  A tall, silver-gold shape, a vague, four-legged pokemon, shimmered suddenly into existence. "Who am I? Good question..." The pokemon's voice seemed to echo throughout the area, a resounding, almost calming voice. "That depends. Some call me the Creator. Some call me the first pokemon. Some call me-" "Arceus." Matt finished, having recovered his wits.

  "Yes. I am the original being, lord of all, born from a single, tiny egg." Arceus responded. "Why am I here?" Matt asked, mystified. "I suppose I should explain everything." Arceus said. "I brought you here out of pity." "Wait, what?" Matt cut in. "Yes." The god answered. "I have brought you here for a reason. I have something I wish to tell you. Something that will affect what you do from here."

  "Okay, what is it?" Matt asked, almost immediately. "First, I want to ask you: Are you sure you can bear the news?" The pokemon asked skeptically. "Yes. Just tell me." Matt insisted. "Very well." Arceus was silent for a moment. "You CAN get him back." Matt almost fell over. He would have, had he not been floating in midair. "Wh-what?!"

  Up until now, though he wouldn't tell anyone this, he had his personal doubts about there being a way to bring his Luxray back. But now, he was floating in midair, having smalltalk with the god of creation. "Y-you'll bring him back?" Matt asked, awed. Arceu let out what sounded like a metallic sigh. "Alas, it doesn't work that way." "What do you mean?" Matt asked, a little confused.

  "Be at peace." Arceus said. "For now, you have nothing to worry or fear. You are hurt, but I will heal you. Good luck, Matthew Elijah Harketh. And remember: There really is a way." Matt's vision started to fade, and he accepted it willingly. He let himself be carried from his unconscious state. {All is well...} He thought, as his limbs grew heavy and his consciousness returned to his own body.

  For a second, Matt thought he was awake. He opened his eyes, and, a little confused at what he saw, closed his eyes and went to sleep. "Look. He's breathing more regularly." A young woman's voice said as he drifted off into a sleepy stupor, soon to wake and find something that would change his current idea of reality completely. «End Ch3»

  Matt's eyes slowly opened, and it took a moment for his brain to actually jumpstart and decide to comprehend what it saw. Matt groaned, and lifted his head off the bed he was in. He managed to sit up. His right arm was wrapped in bandages, but he could move it just fine. Nothing seemed to be wrong with it. "Huh?" A young woman, the same one he had seen before, poked her head in the room.

  "Oh. So you're finally awake." The girl said. "Of course I am." He muttered, his vision swimming. He almost fell off the bed. "Whoa, buddy." She said, quickly pulling him back up. {Buddy...} That reawoke something within him, and he staggered upward, not willing to lie in bed. He just wasn't that kind of person. "Hey. Are you sure you should..." The girl trailed off as Matt waved her away.
