    MissingNo was a glitch Pokemon in Pokemon Red, Green(JPN)/Blue(international), and Yellow Versions. The designers had place it in there as an error handler for unfilled information. MissingNo could often duplicate items. There has been other error-handling glitches in games, but they all have different names.

    Error handlers from the different Generations were: Gen1 had MissingNo (and countless other glitch Pokemon). Gen2 had Five Question Mark (and its many hexadecimal variants) and a few other glirches. Gen3-5 had Ten Question Mark and Bad Egg. Gen 6 only had Bag Egg [As far as anyone has found.].

    Many MissingNo sightings these days in XY/ORAS are not actual Pokemon, but rather coincidentally MissingNo-shaped errors like the the lighting error found during the day at Couture Boutique in Lumoise City in XY.
