Because the online community in the game is full of kids who have hacked legendaries or people who trade, automatically EXPECTING legendaries. It's sad.

people do these sort of things because they want to fill their pokedexes i mean it's nice to have a truckload of legendary pokemon but if you don't have any of the other pokemon it's pointless to even play pokemon. Finally once you complete the story you get something called friend safari and the more friends you have the more different types of pokemon you can find.
