Ok, every single walkthrough says that I must press B to run past this door but the door keeps shutting before I even get to it. Anyone have any tips?

Right idea, wrong room. There are two 'crumble' bridges. If there are spikes on the ceiling, run. As This Unit says, for this one you need the speed booster.
