    For your idea how about there is a group of friends struggling to survive the war and they kill zombies. Though out the story each character becomes a zombie and is killed. Just an Idea, it's all up to you. :3

    How about four seasons. It gives enough time for the reader to know the characters, and leave an emotional connection for when thier favorate character dies.
