    3000 years ago, AZ made the flowery super-weapon, right? if you paid attention to the pictures and dialog in the tale, you would know that when AZ fired the weapon, it killed turned all the pokemon into tall slabs of stone. those stones had pieces in them that were the essence of certain pokemon. when a pokemon mega-evolve, the essence inside the megastones gives the pokemon more power.
