Just get a wild pokemon that other people might like and put it up for a Charmander on the GTS. Chances are that someone will trade one to you. If you don't have Charmander in the pokedex, you'll have to use the "what pokemon" feature when putting what pokemon you want. The name has to be spelled correctly for it to work.
