    Okay, let's see... SO the Shiny rates are 1/4096 for Gen VI. That means every Pokémon you encounter has a 1/4096 chance of being shiny. You could just run around in the grass until you find one, but that could take ages. The Dexnav raises shiny rates. There is a 50% chance of encountering a Shiny Pokémon in approximately the first 130 encounters of a chain. (Bulba)

    You could also try horde hunting, which is using sweet scent to encounter a horde of pokemon, then running or KOing the horde if none are shiny. This does not raise the shiny rates, but you encounter 5 pokemon at once so it's a more efficient way to random encounter. There are more methods, but that's about it if you want to use the grass.

    Using grass? No. But there's chain fishing, fishing in the same spot over and over without moving, turning, reeling in too slow, reeling in too fast, or not getting a bite. Another way is the Masuda method, in which you breed two Pokemon for different countries together. This boosts the shiny rates to 1/683 without the shiny charm, and 1/512 with it.

    So basically there's no surefire way to get a shiny except events where they're always shiny, like the Shiny Beldum distribution, or in-game gift pokemon like the Gible/Dratini in Black2/White2.
