I've been thinking of Custap Berry strategies for this generation... This sounds gimmicky, but maybe Harvest Trevenant could do some very evil tricks with that item! :3

  • i think that pokemon w/ sturdy (such as foretress) could make good use of the custap berry because w/ sturdy you can survive any hit as long as you don't take prior chip damage when the pokemon comes out and you can do two (or potentially more) turns of action.

  • That's pretty much the standard way to use the item. With Trevenant, If you can survive the first attack, you can surprise the opponent by going first for the knockout. Then the berry comes back, and you can use destiny bond if the next pokemon could block it's attacks.

  • that strategy is situational imo because harvest has about 50% chance of getting the berry back (but 100% while the sun is up) and plus there are times that the damage after the turn where trevenant was not enough to proc the custap and at times where the damage can KO it before it even uses the berry. also priority is another issue when using pinch berries at 25% HP or less.

  • I remember hearing in a different related discussion about someone wanting to try that out with Phantom Force, or whatever version of that move Trevenant gets. Its pretty gimmicky but it'd be hilarious the times it does work out if harvest ends up only activating the Custap to activate on the first turn of the move but never the second.

  • I must admit - that would be quite hilarious. :)
