Commencing operation B.P.T.T a boot camp for rising pokemon trainers. Okay, Wurmples and Caterpies! Today we'll be learning about Weather Conditions. Each condition can drastically affect a battle. Obviously rain helps water types and gives fire types a hard time, but it also affects moves. Thunder is more common in heavy rain, so Thunderbolt gains higher accuracy. (rest in comments)

    Solar Beam requires sunlight to be used, so in the rain it takes 2 turns instead of 1. With the sunny condition, water-types have more difficulties and Fire types have the upper hand. Solar Beam is also given a boost. Now it only 1 turn to charge it. There are also the Primordial versions of these conditions but that's for another session. Finally there's Sandstorms and Hail.     @Shadow wolf: Hm? What do you mean? *Continuing* damage to any type of pokemon that is not Rock, Ground, and perhaps steel. I have to check my facts. Hail on the other hand, damages any pokemon that is not an Ice type.
