I'm glad I went with the soundtrack CD as the Club Nintendo platinum-member reward. The Final Hours is a tune I liked a lot, plus the Gerudo pirate ship and the Fierce Deity battle. That brief encounter with the mummy in Ikana Valley had a creepy tune too. Perfect for Halloween.

  • I got the soundtrack too and I'm glad I did. With it and the easter egg in Link Between Worlds I knew this game had to be coming. I just started my retail copy. Last time we had a power outage I grabbed the portable boom-box and listened to it by candlelight. Very epic!

  • I don't own Link Between Worlds, so I wouldn't know about the easter egg. After Majora's Mask, I stopped playing Zelda games because I was so frustrated with all the mini-games, as I said earlier. I also stopped playing Metroid after Nintendo saw fit to introduce a grappling hook. It was fun in Bionic Commando, when you weren't pressured to get 100% items and finish in under 3 hours.

  • Similarly, I tried playing Wind Waker, and the stealth scenes in the Forsaken Fortress turned me right off. If I want stealth missions, I'll play Metal Gear. It's my rather strong opinion that stealth missions and mini-games don't belong in Zelda games. The charm of the original games was solving puzzles in complex dungeons, fighting strange monsters, and finding secret entrances and items.

  • At any rate, I'm glad there are level editors available on the Internet for some of the classic 8-bit games. I'm happy to play with new levels instead of new games sometimes. Dragoon X Omega, for example, is a Dragon Warrior hack that is so well-done, it feels like a whole new game. I tried my hand at Mega Man I & II level design and had a blast. I'm looking forward to Mario Maker.
