Might not even start playing until Monday, but my enthusiasm is high. Just please let this be the last remake for a few years Nintendo, I'm begging you. More new LoZ games! Y'all clamorous MM lovers finally got what you wanted though. :p

I'm enjoying all these remakes, but...yeah, I greatly prefer playing new games.

I'm fine w/ a TP port to 3ds since it can handle Wii software now, but please let me see a new LoZ game for handheld prior to that ... and of course this year's WiiU title. It was five years between TP and SS, four now since a new console title ... they're worth the wait, but good grief. You know I love them br'er 'doer. But the effort could be used to trim down the production schedule by a year.

I feel Nintendo should at least take a break from remakes, and step out of their comfort zone. They should re-invent their formula for their games, and focus on making new IPs. They should also show some love for games that haven't had a game for along time (F-Zero, Metroid, etc) They have been doing a good job lately by making Project S.T.E.A.M and the new Starfox, and Fire Emblem.

Well, the point of the remakes is that they outsource the work to Grezzo so that they're really not diverting many of the creative resources that they would be putting towards a new Zelda. I agree that a new Zelda usually trumps a remake, but if they weren't remaking the games then it's not like we'd be getting a new Zelda significantly sooner- there'd just be longer gaps between game releases.

We don't need another Fire Emblem for 3DS, it should be for the Wii U, and if it was, I would consider buying it. BUT NOHPE!

Stagger!!! How've you been? Majoras Mask looks so cool! I want that game. One thing I'd like to know is if it has Boss mode? Like in Ocarina of Time 3D. I wanna get back into Speedrunning those Boss Fights again.

Hey Cody, I've been well, you? I don't know yet, I'm finally actually going to start playing it tomorrow. The outsourcing to Grezzo is only part of the production process though Benjamin. There's oversight, playtesting, marketing ... and Nintendo has a pretty small, clandestine staff touching the franchise. I'd bet a full year would have come off the gap between TP and SS w/out OoT3d ...

and my conjecture on the scheduling of Zelda U is the same. Sure WWHD was whipped up quickly, but take that and MM3d off the ledger, and we'd have been playing a new console title last November. I love these remakes too, but I'd gladly sacrifice them to start seeing two LoZ games per console generation instead of one.

Are you a programmer? Do you know the ins and outs of a game company?

I don't doubt that some of the resources have to be shared for there to be a remake, but I'm just quoting what Aonuma has said about the three recent remakes. Think about it, the non-remake Zelda release schedule hasn't spaced out any more than it had back in the essentially remake-free GameCube-Wii generation.

Hoho Frog, funny you should ask my basis for my assertions. I've written about EA Sports and ID Software, during which I gained a pretty thorough understanding of those ins and outs in question young sir. Actually developing software is at most fifty percent of the production schedule.

Yes Benjamin, they've always been painfully slow w/ every IP they have that's not Mario related. WW released in 2003 right? TP was developed for the NGC and released in 2006, behind schedule due to the simultaneous Wii release and late adjustment. Not quite as slow then as they have been since, w/ FSA in the middle of that ... The proper argument against me here is the gap between LttP and OoT.

Haha good point about the ALttP-OoT gap, but you have to consider that the development teams were also considerably smaller back then. Plus with OoT they were developing a game in a genre that hadn't really existed before-- not exactly the easiest task to execute quickly.

Right, those would have been my next debate points! Quite honestly, as good as the games are, I don't want them to start rushing. But their timetable borders on disgraceful ... not in the sense I'm upset, more from a sheer business perspective. Who knows though, maybe the delays build hype. Plus my artistic side is ashamed of my ruthless capitalist argument.

Still, there's plenty of filler material for Zelda fans between major titles. Nintendo Land's Zelda attraction, Hyrule Warriors, Smash Bros., NES Remix, Mario Kart's, and Sonic: Lost World's DLC all come to mind for this generation's non-remake/Virtual Console stuff. I would love to see more small traditional Zelda content though. A new Four Swords or TLoZ updated remake for 3DS would be perfect.
