    The self-stablizing 3d feature helps keep the 3d effect from slipping by tracking your face and adjusting the sweet spot, so I would say yes, it does look better 'cause the 3d is improved. Not required to play, but improved. Plus free camera control with c stick.

    I have the normal, original release, 3DS. Aside from the usual 3d doubling in places, it looks fantastic for me.
