Was it really SO hard to figure out where the ice goes that we now need a visual cue?

  • Have you done the Beaver time trials yet?? I used to leap majestically out of the water through the higher hoops with ease. I raced 5 or 6 times in this game and MISSED EVERY TIME. I agree, the arc is too steep. I wish they had left Zora Link alone. I bonked my head a couple times in the temple for sure, but that's no reason to change great control and animation for the worst.

  • I was pretty angry when I figured out that the only way to swim like a proper zora was linked to the magic shield. I also didn't like how the goron stays curled instead of releasing when you release A, but it didn't upset me like the change to Zora Link did.

  • I did do the beaver race but I never found myself leaping out of the water to get the rings that are above water, if anything they were moved down so you can gliiide through them at the regular speed. what DID give me trouble though was getting that 1 dumb fairy in Great Bay where you're underwater and you HAVE to tackle a wooden barrel where the See Saw water puzzle is at. THAT was a pain!

  • And don't get me started about the Gyorg battle!

  • OH. MY. GOD. Let me tell you, that Gyorg 2nd Phase was not only a pain, but confusing! I understood what to do after like... running into all the damn mines and nearly dying. What I didn't get was how to cause Gyorg to inhale. Not til i had 1 heart did i figure it out and I literally nope'd out of the way and let him spawn fish so I can get my hearts back.

  • Goron Link also got me frustrated because of muscle memory of holding down A to curl. It didn't ruin much on the boss fight side of it, but it was like me to just let go and wail on him with fists but having to press A again to uncurl just didnt feel natural. Though it was a godsend for the Goron Race.

  • I almost died puzzling over the same thing. Also, I think you were supposed to boomerang the mines off the ground but I was like nope nope nope, rather swim through the hinge, if it hits me too bad.

  • That's what I thought at first, I had to swim through the gem to break it off, then I saw that literally any attack can break them off. Bommeranging them with the fins is too finicky for me, so instead i just used the fin shield and waited till he inhaled which i would bring up the magic shield. Another thing! I thought i had to consistently swim, I didn't know sinking down would be helful.

The first time that I played this game, I actually got so angry that I couldn't figure it out haha! I just started firing ice arrows everywhere and when I realized you could make platforms with them... *shakes fist* I felt so dumb. It was such a random mechanic that wasn't clearly introduced so I just never thought to freeze the water!

There's ups and downs to making things *too* clear though. I don't really have those "....wow" moments anymore. It always feels like your hand is being held. (There are lots of exceptions to this of course, but a lot of games I have been playing recently feels like this)

  • I know there were ice platforms in OoT, but I guess there was never a time when you had to make them to proceed... Had to think about that one, I forgot that ice arrows were pretty much the only optional item! I dunno how I knew to make platforms, I just remember not getting stuck there x)

  • It does help streamline the game, because i dont remember in the original being told that you can make platforms by freezing water. It was just something you figure out while messing with things.

  • For the MM remake, I'm finding that (Woodfall exempt) they've made the temples a lot easier and the boss battles a lot harder...

  • I remember how I knew to shoot the water the first time! Lol, turns out I wasn't just smart after all. I got stuck at the part where you freeze the Octorok and use it as a platform. I knew that's where I needed to be but I didn't know what to do so I looked up a guide x) After that I guess it was easy enough to think "Octorok can freeze, water can freeze too." lol

Yeah that part in MM was the only part in any zelda game that I ever struggled with. So stupid :\

  • I think my clue for freezing water was when you were in the room with the chu jelly that had nothing in it. The only thing it was good for was to freeze it to make it a block. i cant remember if you had to freeze water first to get to that room but i think thats how i learned.

  • I actually found the first boss harder since i was so used to going up to it and just whack it to death. I like the new mechanic it has!

  • Odolwa has always been the most difficult to me, and I found him really easy this time. Goht I used to just ram with the spikes till he was down (which usually took like 30 seconds, did anyone not do that though?) I thought Goht was a lot more tedious this time. And then there's Gyorg. I had an okay method before. I would hang out in the middle of the playform and pelt him with arrows and that it.

  • I sucked using the spikes on Goron Link in the original lol. I would just stop and punch him because i never had a steady hand before, i like this verion of Goht because its not all about raming

  • That's funny because I really thought they overcomplicated somethung that was comfortably easy before xD Just goes to show we all experience things differently.
