Ok so I've been debating about weather or not to get Majora's Mask 3D having never played the original, and the biggest deal breaker is the 'three day time limit'. I'm someone who hates being timed and I was wondering how this works. Is there some sort of way to slow/change time in the game? Please help

  • You can slow down how the time flows in the game. The game requires to complete certain tasks during small windows of time for some of the side quests. Majora's Mask is a game you will need have an idea on what you are doing or you will have to restart certain tasks from the beginning.

I don't think there's any limit to the number of cycles. Just do as much as you can each time and you'll get there at your own pace (bear in mind i've only played a few hours of the game). That particular mechanic reminds me of the original legend of zelda where you end up right where you started every time. The Termina field music is similar too iirc.

  • The one thing is that unless you've beaten a dungeon, if you go back to the first day everything in there. you dont lose much either. if you wanna keep rupees when going back in time put them in the bank. also, the game IS sad, creepy, and disturbing at times.

  • Oh ok. So reverting time lets you keep all your stuff then?

  • If you have rupees in your wallet when you reset time you will lose them. If you deposit them at the bank, you still have them when you reset time. You just have to go back and get them. Its very helpful when you are short on rupees. I played the original for the Nintendo 64 and I loved it.

  • @Sloth, it would be very difficult to beat the game in one 3 day cycle. You have to complete main quest which only 4 main dungeons which are slightly harder than your average Zelda dungeon. Most of the game is collecting masks, equipment upgrades, and completing side quests. You can restart the whole 3 day from scratch, but you have restart a lot of things.

  • Awesome. Thanks guys! I'll probably get the game sometime soon. I've gotta get a circle pad plus too.

  • @Sloth, I would suggest if you are playing the game is make sure you focus on completing certain tasks i.e. start and finish the 1st dungeon or obtaining the sword upgrade. If you don't beat the boss for a dungeon before restart 3 day cycle, then you have to redo most of your work.

  • @Sloth, you get to keep masks obtained, equipment upgrades, songs, and other items that would be Big Chest items in other Zelda games. You will lose rupees in your wallet, deku nuts, magic, and other items that have limited uses. Certain side quests can be annoying, since you will need to follow a certain schedule to complete it or have to start it over from the beginning.
