Super Monkey Ball Adventure is what happens when you take the best parts of Super Monkey Ball 1 and 2 (Tight controls and creative level designs), throw them out the window, and add in pointless open-world segments accompanied by horrific loading screens and camera angles.

  • I've never played Adventure. It can't possibly be worse than Banana Blitz, can it?

  • It's worse than Banana Blitz. Banana Blitz may have had some really awful mini-games and only allowing one control scheme was a bad idea for those didn't like motion controls, but it at least had good physics and the visuals and soundtrack are pretty nice. With Adventure? The physics are reduced to nothingness, the levels are bland and lack any kind of creativity, Challenge Mode is thrown in

  • at the last second (there's not even a Master mode), the level themes are literally RIPPED STRAIGHT FROM THE FIRST SUPER MONKEY BALL GAME, most of the other songs are unforgettable, the camera is a mess, and as I said before, the open-world segments are pointless; the goal to advance to the next world is to help enough people scattered around each area, but the problem is that

  • once you help a certain amount of people completing all the other quests in that world rewards you with pretty much nothing. The quests themselves are bland, boring, and feel like a chore to do because of how awful the controls are. The missions also have a really frustrating mission system, because instead of just trying a mission again if you fail to complete it, you actually have to go back to

  • the person who gave you the mission in the first place and then, and only then, can you try again. Also, the storyline is shoehorned in, being cliched and... well, just not good enough to make you want to actually move on. What hurts the game the most, at least for me, is that special abilities are introduced, such as being able to break down obstacles or turn invisible. But ONLY in the

Super Monkey Ball Adventure is a game that I wanted to love, because the idea of an open-world Monkey Ball game could've lead to some interesting possibilities, but what was released is a broken, unsatisfying mess.

  • Wow... And I've honestly always wanted to try the game out for myself, too.. Also, I can definitely agree that the way the missions are handled is poorly structured.

  • But as of now, I still consider Banana Blitz to be the worse in the series. No game has gotten me more frustrated than that game has. Controls and level design are abysmal, the story just flat-out sucks, and most of the mini-games are just awful in my opinion.

  • I just wish that you could make your character sit completely still, but because of the motion controls you always HAVE to be moving. I'm not even sure why they bothered with a story. Like, I'm not saying there has to be a story (Super Monkey Ball 1 didn't have one and nobody complained), but if they're going to make a story they should at least give explanations behind the a characters and

I'm not even sure if they bothered to put any effort into the mini-games, there were only a few I actually liked. Most of them are unplayable :/ To be fair, Banana Blitz does have potential. Not all of the levels are bad, but nearly every other game in the series did their levels better. Even

  • Step and Roll, which was IMO one of the most unforgettable games in the series had some great environments and the later levels were deceptively difficult. Idk, maybe this is just my nostalgia towards Super Monkey Ball 2 but I feel like that game got almost everything right from the mini-games to the levels to the environments and the soundtrack.
