Nintendo released the Game Boy Color version of this game in Japan... so why not here?

  • Yeah, I'm disappointed at this myself. It probably would have taken like a month or two make an English translation of the GBC version, given that the game has little text. The only reason that I can think of why Nintendo didn't bother is because they generally don't take old Japanese games and translate them to English.

  • I don't feel too bad about it, as the Japan only GBC version does lack certain things, for example even though it has color, the water on the world map in their version is stationary meaning it doesn't move, while the version we got actually animates the water on the world map, so at the very least we have a world map that have parts that move, it also makes me wonder if the Japan only GBC version

  • lacks that cool rain animation in the mountain levels (not to be confused with the waterfall ones) since if if it lacks one animation that makes me wonder if more such as the example I just wondered and mentioned are left out of the Japan only GBC version as well.
