Question

I just can't seem to break the Gore Magala's tail! Any advice?

    Just go all out for its tail. If the Gore Magala is tired, stunned, or paralyzed this will be much easier. And try to attack it at the end of its attacks or attack when it's distracted by your Palicoes.

    Aim for the tail almost exclusively. This is a little hard since Gore tends to stay on the move. Make sure your weapon is a "slashing" weapon. And, probably most helpful, play online with others. Send a message like "I want to cut the tail" in the lobby, and work together to take it out!

    Try using a shock trap or two, while its shocked go all out on its tail. If you're not to good at laying traps while fighting, try bringing a support palicoe with you.

    I'll use some traps(I'm super good at laying traps in the middle of a fight), and attack while it's distracted. Any specific weapon I should use? I've been using the Stealth Glaive+ and the Khezu Greatsword.

    I have the Scaly Sword+ or whatever it's called too. It has (correct me if I'm wrong) 120 sleep bonus.

    Well every weapon (except the Hammer, I think) can cut tails so any will do. But I highly recommend weapons whose attacks are dominantly cutting. Sword & Shield, Great Sword, Long Sword, Dual Blades, Lance, Gunlance, Switch Axe, Charge Blade, and Insect Glaive are great for cutting tails.

    The only weapon that cant cut as far as I know is the hammer. but the HH is really weak at cutting, as is the bow. bowguns need slicing shots to cut. So basically the only weapons that cant cut, or cut reliably, are the Hammer, HH, Bow and to an extent the bowguns.

    Also, if it helps, I've cut plenty of tails using the Lance since its easy to get multiple hits in. Or at least it is for me.

    I finally got one! Thanks guys! I finally have the full Gore set! Now to make the dual blades... The Gore Insect Glaive is mad easy to make, so Imma use it for now.
