    Did you get the regular 3ds or the xl you need the xl to play mh4 if you have the regular version it dosent have the circle pad rendering you unable to play it.

    If you have the "New 3ds" with built-in nub, then first go to settings from home screen and try to calibrate it. Then reboot 3ds. If neither works, does the nub work in other games? If other games use it fine, might have to redownload MH4U or exchange the cartridge.
