I feel like I spend more time farming than progressing... 35 hours and only HR 3... But I have like 10+ kills each on Zamtrios, Tetsucabra, Gypceros, Rathian, Gore Magala, more monsters that I'm too lazy to list :/ On another note, does anyone recommend the Insect Glaive? I've been maining Charge Blade and forged Permanence a few days back and only used that...

thats sounds about average for game time. i'm around the same for time and hr. this is a very grindy game though. but as you get better gear, you will find less farming is needed to progress further.

trust me you DO NOT AT ALL want to rush your hr or star rank offline. max out your weapons and armor asvbest as possible, plus do as many quests as you can in each star lv or hr. fully doing all quests in a star lv or hr gives emblems on guild card PLUS once you kill dalamadur your hr cap is removed and hr points gained from past quests are added. more quests = higher hr.
