Don't feel like playing as Ellie in Rainforest Rumble? Well, you don't have to! It's possible to bypass this Ellie Barrel as Dixie. She must hover over the long pit WITHOUT touching the barrel cannon. Then, she must land carefully on the corner of this cliff edge. If you're successful, then Dixie can jump around the barrel, avoiding having to play as Ellie. It's a little easier this way! Have fun!

    Cool trick, albeit I don't think she is that bad in this game. I mean, infinite water and never gets scared by sneeks, c'mon. You can do something similar in Stampede Sprint in DKC3 by setting up a Squitter platform then hovering as Dixie. You cannot progress though, since the level begins with a scripted event, so if you bypass the Ellie barrel, the camera won't advance, forcing you to take it.

    Thanks! I like doing this trick mainly because it's easier to defeat Sneeks as Dixie/Kiddy (plus they gain speed from doing so, whereas Ellie can't, and you probably know that I like to blaze through levels as fast as possible). While Ellie is mostly better in this game than in DKC3 (except for the loss of ability to carry barrels), I still find her underwhelming.

    I did know about the trick that you described in Stampede Sprint and tried it long ago, but as you said, the game won't scroll until you enter the Ellie Barrel, so it's useless. The GBA version handles this differently: Rare placed multiple invisible barrel cannons above Ellie, forcing you to play as her. (Much like Surf's Up in the European GBA version of DKC3!)
