I was working on Maxing pretty heavy last week. I'm at 23 now. In order reached: Scyther, Heatran, Genesect, Yveltal, Ampharos, Gengar, Lucario, Donphan, Groudon, Aurorus, Victini, Mewtwo, Slowbro, Tyranitar, Xerneas, Blastoise, Sceptile, Zapdos, Marowak, Glalie, Aerodactyl, Giratina and Conkeldurr. Getting close on: Dialga, Ninetales, Zoroark and Articuno. (9+)
07/08/2015 10:51 AM ·Spoilers
Also working on: Dragonite (8), Kyogre (8), Altaria (8), Heracross (5), Salamence (4) and Excadrill (4) Others get added as some graduate, been focusing on base 80s and better mega's plus whatever was useful for current challenge. Slowed up a bit now as I'm rebuilding my coin stockpile.
07/10/2015 10:08 AM ·Spoilers
Arceus is here already, and what a dozy of a stage! I have serious trouble trying to beat it unboosted with the above team. You'll need some luck or coin to catch this one. On the up side there is no once a day limit and it says it'll be up for 2 weeks so there is time to work on it and save up. Conjecture: Mega Charizard competition will land soon and Palkia after it is over.
07/10/2015 10:40 AM ·Spoilers
I can't seem to catch Seviper on 5 tries and am too cheap to use a great ball.
07/10/2015 10:44 AM ·Spoilers
That one gave me some trouble too, but after a couple of tries I used a great ball for a Max catch rate because I wanted to try Arceus without having to wait on hearts.
07/10/2015 12:36 PM ·Spoilers
So Normal Pokemon are basically worthless in this game, right?
07/10/2015 12:40 PM ·Spoilers
They have a big liability in being super effective against nothing, however that ability is interesting, as was snorlax's, and there are more normal megas than other types, might be worth testing a normal team.
07/10/2015 12:42 PM ·Spoilers
I don't see why you guys had trouble catching Seviper... First try for me... Sad I missed Jirachi- I hope they bring it back very soon...
07/10/2015 12:49 PM ·Spoilers
Farfech't gave me the most trouble. I missed that one over a dozen times at catch rates around 33 to 48%.
07/10/2015 12:55 PM ·Spoilers
I'm hearing rumours that a site from japan is indicating mega lucario may return for a third round soon. I'm doubtful but I'll yeah the link if anyone wants to check it.
07/10/2015 1:11 PM ·Spoilers
@Josh You caught him at 19% and you don't understand why we're having a problem? My first three times beating him I had capture rates over 40% and missed on all. Got him fourth try with a rate in the 30s. Also, got Arceus, but had to use 2x Damage and Mega Start. Beat him with 19 moves left but capture rate was still only 41%. Had to use Great Ball to protect initial investment of coins.
07/10/2015 1:13 PM ·Spoilers
Base 90, and it's power is "Double Normal" which increases damage done by any Normal types. Too bad I'll never use this guy.
07/10/2015 6:09 PM ·Spoilers
LOL! That's the exact thought that ran through my head when I caught him last night, Klim. For some reason I was hoping he'd be Psychic type, but it would have been impractical since that would be yet another Psychic type with a base power of 80 or above. Type groups like Grass and Fighting desperately need more stronger Pokémon, in my opinion.
07/10/2015 6:15 PM ·Spoilers
I'm all caught up with Special Stage Pokémon (for now), but I can't help but wish they'd let up on all the new content and give people a chance to get some Coins going. I haven't been able to get a sizeable stash because they keep cranking out coin-devouring stages like some virtual stage production plant. Jeez...
07/10/2015 6:35 PM ·Spoilers
More sites are reporting a third run on Mega Lucario for Monday now, but it still isn't on the shuffle page last I checked.
07/10/2015 8:07 PM ·Spoilers
I hope there will be events for the plates of Arceus. He's pretty useless as a normal type.
07/10/2015 10:11 PM ·Spoilers
Updated farming/level boosting team. Can't see how Arceus would be useful for things like EX stages and Mega Competitions, but I'll work on him anyways. It'd be cool to have a Pokémon with 110 power...
07/11/2015 11:49 AM ·Spoilers
Arceus does serious damage when its ability triggers, more than say a base 70 super effective type with no ability, but it won't always trigger and if you combo into it, it's worse. As for Snorlax, I think I misunderstood its ability. Thought it booster anything that wasn't 'very effective' so all normal attacks, but now I suspect it is just the 'not very effective' ones. Still unconfirmed.
07/11/2015 12:14 PM ·Spoilers
Wait, Normals are less than effective against certain types? Oh, and I just made my first 500 coin match against Ordinary Meowth. Gotta do it more often, 'cause right now the coins can't come in fast enough. Will try an all-Psychic team against Richy Meowth with Moves +5 to see if I can get anything extra.
07/11/2015 12:22 PM ·Spoilers
I think it's just "not effective" attacks, which makes it virtually useless because why, at this point, would you go into a battle with an ineffective mon AND a Normal type? *pets his Kyogre while staring at Momo with dead eyes.*
07/11/2015 12:26 PM ·Spoilers
Trying to save up coins for Arceus... The best team I got against Arceus is мSlowbro (LvMAX), Lucario (Lv8), Sawk (Lv6), and Throh (Lv5)... I've already used up the Victini for the week...
07/11/2015 12:28 PM ·Spoilers
Normal types are not very effective against rock steel and ghost types.
07/11/2015 12:40 PM ·Spoilers
I always go for 500 when I grind. I typically get it 3 out of 5 times. If I see that I'm doing too much damage, I'll settle for less. I'm at a point now where I typically manage 2000+ per five hearts. I've landed 2650 (max possible) at least 5 times. Don't takr super effective types. I like to have one ineffective as well if I need to slow things down. Giratina is good because of Power of 4+.
07/11/2015 1:20 PM ·Spoilers
I always went for 300 no matter what because I was too scared of defeating him too early. Saw an opening today, went for it, and got it. I don't have any Super Effective on my farming team anymore. Nowadays, I try to multitask by getting coins and slowly building up levels on some of my Pokémon. Got Diagla and Jirachi in the mix now, since pairing them with Mawille would be a Steel dream team.
07/12/2015 2:18 PM ·Spoilers
Huzzah! Good Josh! I've been getting 530 on meowth more often too, but it still backfires on me about 40% of the time, especially when I'm tired, which is often. Best outing I recall was 3x530, 1x330, and 1x130. Really irritating when your all set to drop the 500 when an extra combo or ability trigger lands you with 30 or you fall a hair short and get 0.
07/12/2015 2:57 PM ·Spoilers
Caught Arceus 1st try with Attack Power↑, Mega Start, Disruption Delay and a Great Ball. 9000 coins spent.
07/12/2015 3:28 PM ·Spoilers
Yeah, Barry. I'm also careful with which 'mon I move so that I don't trigger something inadvertantly. It's also why I like having an ineffective one with me so I don't finish before that last coin shows up.
07/12/2015 3:59 PM ·Spoilers
I decided to take a page out of Klim's book this morning and use Giratina as a "stall Pokémon", and it worked out nicely. I got 530 on 3 out of 5 Hearts -- but only got a total of 790 the next time all my Hearts were refreshed. Unbelievably annoying. Oh, and I forgot the screenshot, but I set a personal best on Richy Meowth with Mewtwo, male and female Meowstic, and Espeon. Threw in Moves +5 and-

got a grand total of 6000 coins. Deducting the 800 price tag on the extra moves, I made a profit of 5400. Aiming for even more next week.
07/12/2015 4:09 PM ·Spoilers
Now that my Gengar and Giratina are maxed I haven't had a ghost in the mix for a bit but it sure was handy, especially when I was also training a fighting type. Lately it has been heracross' normal ability that has triggered for 4-5 times the damage I was expecting that has been my most common foil.
07/12/2015 4:41 PM ·Spoilers
I used to have Heracross on my farming team in order to prepare for getting its Mega Stone -- until it triggered Crowd Control for the first time. Ended Meowth at over half HP in one hit. Needless to say, I swapped him out for a different Pokémon (Dragonite) faster than you could say ƒluƒƒ. I'll work on him with Ampharos, though.
07/12/2015 6:50 PM ·Spoilers
I got 8800 coins on Meowth! However, I did buy Mega Start and +5 Moves. So 6000 profit. I used Bayonette, two ghost pokemone with Quirky (can't remember their name, Ghastly was one I think), and Xerneas for its Quirky+. Massive combos.
07/12/2015 8:16 PM ·Spoilers
I thought about using Mega Start last night, but something told me not to do it. In any case, I literally got 4 times what I would normally have gotten on Richy Meowth, which will make stockpiling coins easier in the long run. That Ghost team + Xerneas sounds interesting. However, I didn't get Banette's Mega Stone, unfortunately, so I'll have to wait until they bring that Competition back.
07/12/2015 8:25 PM ·Spoilers
I tried mega start with my Mewtwo team once or twice a couple of weeks ago now, just didn't have good runs. Scored 6700 this week without it (less 800). And now I have 2 mega speedups invested in Mewtwo (and 1 in Gengar) so I likely won't try it again with that team. Lucario is currently next on my list for speedups once Mewtwo is maxed on them [3 more].
07/13/2015 2:07 AM ·Spoilers
Just did a non-powerup run for the new Lucario event, and I'm 19th! Out of 289. Scored 21k. I think it may actually hold in the top 30k.
07/13/2015 2:18 AM ·Spoilers
Yup this weeks update: A third run at Mega Lucario, only. And it looks like the level and prize structure will be the same as the second run, top 30k for stone or too jewels, one jewel otherwise.
07/13/2015 2:38 AM ·Spoilers
Decided to give a boosted run a try. Look I made the top 5! I'll be knocked out by morning I'm sure but I'm just thrilled anyway.
07/13/2015 3:02 AM ·Spoilers
LOL, I noticed that before I came here! I saw the name "Barry", thought nothing of it, and opened up MM3D. Five minutes later, I go rushing back to the Ranking screen. "THE Barry?!" This is my non-boosted run at it. Not trying to break any records. I'll take my 2 Jewels and run. Thankfully, this lull in new content will finally let me pile up coins and go through all the Main and EX stages.
07/13/2015 12:14 PM ·Spoilers
My unboosted run- Uggh, I guess this is what I get because I haven't caught Victini and since I'm still stuck on Solosis, I'm nowhere remotely close to Salamence, and I don't even have enough S-Ranks to unlock Mewtwo, let alone Yveltal... Plus, there are some greedy players who already have the Lucarionite competing, so my chances are even slimmer...
07/13/2015 12:50 PM ·Spoilers
Sorry Josh. Submaster that is the first time I've ever been called 'the Barry' to my knowledge. Almost wish I was wearing that ƒ badge to represent better, but I'm down to 5th now and will be off the top 5 soon anyway, probably not worth the change over at this point. (29k participating so far)
07/13/2015 3:21 PM ·Spoilers
You should be called "the Barry" more often, then! You actually are one of the better players of this game worldwide, proved by the fact that you started a discussion post completely dedicated to it. Thanks for that passcode, too! So that makes 3 Jewels for me once I get the other two next Monday, which means better Hearts or Coins options in the shop. All I have to do is pick from either one...
07/13/2015 3:58 PM ·Spoilers
It's funny how things work out sometimes. When I made this post I really wasn't thinking of making a shuffle discussion thread. Klim, Miffy and I just got talking and sharing. And outside of the context you gave above, or something similar, THE Barry sounds goofy.

Need help to place in the top 20,000 for the lucarionite i dont have the lucarionite yet, if i get it i may be able to catch arceus :P
07/14/2015 5:35 PM ·Spoilers
@Jrƒ: It is top 30,000, not top 20,000. I personally don't know if this will hold 6 more days even though this was a full boosted run, but I guess in the mean time I should save up coins again.
07/14/2015 10:24 PM ·Spoilers
Welcome Jr. Glad you could join us. Josh I'm sure that will get you the stone, ussually over scores over 20000 have a good shot. An interesting side note, I was bumped to 6th at between 30k and 31k participants. There are now over 67k more than double and I haven't dropped from 6th yet. I guess people who seriously go for top scores either try early (1st day) or late (last) for more prep time.
07/14/2015 11:20 PM ·Spoilers
Genesect is tough, I forget of the top of my head except that I used most of the boosts, not too helpful. I just saw on the shuffle website that the next mega competition, next week is going to be for Blaziken's stone. Not sure how it jumped in front of Charizard as the first fire type mega released but, there it is.

07/14/2015 11:29 PM ·Spoilers
I haven't even cleared the Blaziken stage yet. I've actually been farming Meowth with Water types lately, so the gradual increase in EXP should definitely help with getting the stone and catching the actual Pokémon. I probably won't play the c ompetitive stage until the last few days, as I'll be spending most of next week on Ampharos with Water types. Gonna try to get the stone without boosts.
07/14/2015 11:41 PM ·Spoilers
My planned team for the competition. I already trained Donphan and Marowak up to level MAX for the Mega Manectric competition, but the base attack power on Kyorge and Milotic beats both by 10. Plus, both Water types (and Blastoise) have excellent Disruption counters (Stabilize+, Block Smash). Unfortunately, Stabilize+ means I can only train this team with Ampharos since it erases Meowth's Coins.

07/14/2015 11:55 PM ·Spoilers
I'm leaning towards Aerodactyl as the Mega, higher power than Blastiose and the picture online shows a double row of blocks. I've already got Tyranitar and Aurorus maxed so it looks like I'll be leaning rock type heavy for my squad. Water does have some good disruption cleaners though and several base 70s to choose from. Most ground types are lower power sadly.

07/15/2015 12:58 AM ·Spoilers
Dang, I forgot that Rock was Super Effective against Fire types. What I have right now isn't better than my current planned team, though. Whoa, those double block rows sound like a pain -- and Mega Aerodactyl's been my main Mega for stages like that, even when he's not Super Effective. But Blastoise has better combo ability... I'll just put both in my Ampharos farming team, and try them both.
This comment contains spoilers.
07/15/2015 1:11 AM ·Spoilers
Good Jr. I expect that will do it! Sub, I was in error on that tidbit, the picture that had the block rows was for blaziken's Ex stage not the competition. The only info on that stage the pictures revealed was a one minute time limit.
07/15/2015 1:25 AM ·Spoilers
For Genesect Aerodactyl with mega start will clear the early blocks quicker but there are so many other disruptions it uses that only helps a little, disruption delay can be handy. What really irked me was the stage includes two non support pokemon (genesect and surskit) having six different guys on the board makes combos and matches trickier disruptions aside. Even reduce complexity leaves five.
07/15/2015 9:23 AM ·Spoilers
I was just followed by this guy avengah, he's done some good combo damage analysis. If anyone is interested I just yeah two of his posts on this.
07/15/2015 10:37 AM ·Spoilers
Well, that much is taken care of. Only cost me 3500 coins, thank God. Surprisingly hard for a 30 second stage, in my opinion.

07/16/2015 11:55 PM ·Spoilers
It should be if managed well, but you may want enough in reserve for a second great ball in case. Many have caught it without reduce complexity too, but whether you wish to try that route will depend in part on how strong the team you are using is.

Getting Kyogre and a few other Super Effectives ready for the Mega Blaziken Competition. I'll play the stage once, see what sort of Disruptions it has to offer, and then choose between Blastoise and Aerodactyl as my Mega. If there isn't a whole lot of disruptions, then I'll have to level Blastoise up with Ampharos, but if there are a lot, I've already got Aerodactyl in my farming team. It'll be a-

win-win either way, as I'll likely need a MAX Super Effective Mega to do well on the Genesect and Heracronite stages. Speaking of Heracronite, I should be able to get to it very soon. Farmed over 10,000 coins today (lots of 500 matches), and I've still got about 2 5-Heart runs in me. Steadily approaching max coins again.

Good news Momo, I've heard from a credible source that they will be rerunning Kyogre, Groudon and Rayquaza begining with Kyogre next week. Braviary's ability is quite strong, almost x2 which can have a big effect like you see in the top 5 scores in the current competition. Also Arceus's ability 'double normal' is closer to 2.5x damage so when it triggers a normal team can out damage super effective teams unless they had a good ability boost too.
This comment contains spoilers.
07/18/2015 11:21 PM ·Spoilers
Interesting. But it's still better to have a super effective team with abilities overall, I think.
07/19/2015 2:24 AM ·Spoilers
For the second week in a row, I shattered my high score on Rich Meowth. Just earned 9800 coins with Banette, Yamask (Quirky), Haunter (Quirky), and Xerneas (Quirky+). I did use Mega Start (2k coins) and +5 Moves (800), so it was a profit of 7000. Woo!
07/19/2015 6:50 AM ·Spoilers
Good catch Beeƒ. Klimb, nice! I thought about running a bannette team but the fact that it almost requires mega start ussually scares me off. I had a less suscess with rich meowth today, Ended in the 4(net) to 5k (gross) range.

Just played my wife's rich meowth stage for her so she wouldn't miss it. She doesn't have Bannette (just the stone), mewtwo, or Xerneas so I put together a quirky team with gengar, got +5 move and scored 7300 coin. Put my own run to shame. Also with about 2 hours to go it looks like this competition won't hit 100k participating either.
07/19/2015 11:36 PM ·Spoilers
I made two attempts at the Lucario event. The first score was likely good enough but I didn't want to have to check today, so I ran another one and landed 34k without any powerups. Nice. Here's a question. If they had an upgrade where you could replenish 10 hearts at once, would you buy it? For how much?
07/19/2015 11:49 PM ·Spoilers
Double the regeneration rate, or just capacity? I don't know, maybe if it was under $2.
07/19/2015 11:59 PM ·Spoilers
My Richy Meowth run was nothing short of terrible. I just couldn't get any combos going. Scored a measly 2100 with Mewtwo + Mega Boost Pokémon, and minus Moves +5 reduced my profit to 1300. Blech. At least I'll have three Jewels to make up for it soon...
07/20/2015 12:04 AM ·Spoilers
I'd pay 99 cents for an extra 5 Hearts in the regeneration process. No more. Funny that Klim asked that question, because earlier today I was thinking how nice it would be if, when you bought Hearts, the amount that you got was permanently added to your total Hearts, and they would regenerate along with the 5 Hearts that you already get. That'd be the only way I'd put a dime on this game, though.
07/20/2015 12:23 AM ·Spoilers
I might drop a couple bucks for some more mega speedups. Hard to say, I just wish they were easier to get. I wonder when Mega Mewtwo X will show up and if it will overshadow Lucario as a fighting mega. Since they are doing Blaziken as the first fire type mega, I'm guessing that when mega Charizard shows up it will be as a dragon type Mega charizard X.

:D HEEEEEEEEUGE update. Escalation Battles, Mega Blaziken, some weird Try Em Out item... thingie. Awesome stuff. Can someone let me know if there's more Main stages? I haven't cleared the last wave yet.

07/20/2015 2:37 AM ·Spoilers
Love the update. I really like escalation battles, for some reason. No new main stages. I played Wobbuffet's level where you get powerups for free. Only Mega Start is available today, and as days go on more will be available. Anyway, he has a low catch rate (base 1, add 1% per moves left, I believe...wasn't paying too close attention), but I managed to capture him at 4%. Ha.
07/20/2015 2:39 AM ·Spoilers
And even funnier, the reward for beating him is one coin! So if you're maxed out your coins (I never have), you can now get it back to an even 0. I, on the other hand, now have a 1 at the end of my coin total. As for buying regenerating hearts, yeah I mean 10 total. Early on I would have spent a lot more. Now, 5 is usually pretty good, though I would drop $2-3 for a permanent max of 10.
