    You'd be surprised! I'm stuck on stage 120, and I still got a decent rank. I won't get a Lucarionite, but it's still fun. Just keep in mind that the competition is in expert format, so you have a time limit. You can make moves while the game is removing matched pokemon (in a timed puzzle, anyway). If you're fast, you can string a bunch of combos.
