How do you go about having a good fight against Black Gravios?! He constantly sprays the fire or sleep smoke, and it doesn't help that he's hard as rocks, literally. I know gunning is a viable option but I'd like to stay away from gunning.

    Gunning is useful for one thing and one thing only. Stun Locks. Did it with Abyssal Lagiacrus and did it with event Dire Miralis. Other than that I rarely use them.

    I don't know... Mainly because I don't have any guns or bows that would be readily available for me; I'd have to buy one and then upgrade it to at least close to HR. It doesn't seem worth it when I won't be using it again after that.

    Gravios uses the gas sometimes after he fires his thermal beam. If you can see a bit of gas coming out then it will release the fire gas. If not, you have an open window to attack. Also, if you break his back Gravios won't be able to release gas after he fires beams. But he can still release gas by itself.

    If you can, try a poison weapon since the poison will do a decent amount of damage to it. Also mounting. Both Gravios have very low mounting resistance and it makes breaking their parts easier.

    Jeffrey, I do try to look for the gas beforehand, but sometimes I don't see it, so I attack, but then the gas comes out of nowhere! It's a load of sht. Kurtai, I'll try the poison weapon next time, and more mountain. Thank you both for you help.

    Well, if you can't beat him you'll just have to make a gun. If you do make one make sure it can fire pierce shots.

    I was actually successful the other day thanks to the commenters above. Two mounts and his back is broken: wail on him like crazy when shoots his fire beam.
