I just found out something that is important for people who have a weapon with an element on it, but the number for its damage is pale and won't activate the element. I was using armor with the free element skill on it and when I used a weapon with an element that won't activate the number went from pale to white, and now the element is finally activated. You must have Free Element to activate.
