Something I've noticed from Urgent Apex monsters, they appear to be immune (or atleast heavily resistant) to damage from the Battlequarters weaponry. For example, Dragonating an Elder Dragon causes them to fall over while Apex monsters don't even flinch.

  • If they are anything like dragonators and ballistas of past games, it's all flat, unresisted damage. However, stagger thresholds on apex monsters is likely a different thing entirely.

  • Well maybe it's because of the fact that some of the apex monsters deflect most of your attacks. Such as the apex Deviljho that you and I fought in the arena. Unless you have a Wystone in effect (Drive I think it is.) your attacks would bounce off of it. Maybe the Dragonator has the same effect too....

  • Apex monsters special super armor deflects and reduces damage from everything except wystones unique effects. Particularly the drive wystone.

  • Well I've noticed alot from watching the particle effects that comes off Apex's. For example when I was soloing the Apex Diablos it limped away to sleep so naturally I bombed it's head, when I detonated the bombs the particle effect that happens whennyou hit armored parts if them without a drive wystone appeared so I assumed it did far less damage. That same particle shows up from the Dragonator,

  • Ballista and Track Cannon unless you hit certain points (usually the hind legs) which causes the usual purple blood to appear instead, back to the blos, I accidently fell out of the area he sleeps in so he was sleeping again when I got back, bombed his legs and the particles were normal since the legs aren't armored.

  • Ya on their weak spots that aren't solid it deals more damage but is still greatly reduced compared to normal damage when not in apex state.
