Question

Can someone answer a couple questions about the palicos for me? The hunter notes don't tell everything or at least aren't clear about things.

    1. Let's say I have a first stingers with healing, defense, support, fighting, and treasure. Will my lead palico use powers from all of them? 2. If my first stingers are resting will my lead palico still use their powers?

    No, you Ace Palico has basic skills including a healing horn of his own that doesn't heal much. In order to use other fortes skills such as antidote horn and laying shock traps you need to have 2 or more of the same forte to affect the skills and with enough first stringers of the same forte the ace's forte will change. Putting first stringer to rest will not alter his skills.

    Aw so to get the most out of your main palico you should stock your first stingers with only 1 or 2 types of fortes

    Depends on your need. If you have the sub palico you can customize the ace how and when you want. If you put all 5 as the same forte you will get a enhanced version of the fortes unique ability. For example, all healing forte cats have parting gift which drops a healing item when they dig to get away to recover. With 5 healing cats your ace gains an upgraded version that drops better items.

    Yes Palico gear helps. Makes the much more useful and keeps them around longer. With a healing Palico set up for example it can save your life. Meowster Hunters which you unlock through the story to give you the materials for their gear makes it rather quick and easy.

    If you just throw five of the same forte into first stringers, you can then check your ace palico's status and see descriptions of all of the forte skills, so that might help you pick what you like. Also good gear can turn them into little monsters. I highly recommend cutting weapons on them. I've had them finish off a tail for me (or a face or wing) more than once or twice!
