I know the sword and shield is a great small weapon that blocks attacks, but the Charge Blade does all of that plus being a heavy weapon. Is there any reason to use sword and shield instead of a Charge Blade?

    Sword and Shield is capable of doing upward attacks when dashing towards or off a ledge. Also you move much faster and you can put up your weapon faster too!

    You can also use items from the blocking stance. I'd say its all personal preference...

    They're two different weapons that serve two different purposes. SnS is made for fast attackers that like to dodge, much like Duals, the shield is really only there for emergencies, unlike the Charge Blade where you generally attack much more slowly and the shield is useful. SnS excels as an elemental and status weapon, while you generally want to go for a high power Charge Blade.
