The way I envision this conversation between two MH4U game designers took place- "We must make the Legend of Zelda quests hard to obtain." "Great lets put them in the G Rank event quests. That way, it will be difficult, but once you get the rewards, the armor will last awhile." "No...players want to get the armor right away. So lets put the quests in high rank...

  • we can still make it insanely difficult so that it's impossible to beat in single player without G rank armour." "Wait. If the player needs G rank armor to get it, won't that make geting the Zelda armor obsolete?" "No. A player can be carried through the online mode, get the Legend of Zelda armor and then start the single player mode. It's brilliant. Then it will feel like a Zelda game."...

  • "Sir, it's unfair to do it like that for three reasons. #1- Those players who like to hunt single player mode will feel cheated. #2- It breaks the natural progression of the game doing it like that. #3-It will create feelings of loathing between players to carry them through like this. I'm starting to think this is a bad idea." "No it's brilliant!...

  • Oh, and have Navi be the client explaining the reason behind these quests. If I know the Zelda audience, players love taking orders from that fairy. Gosh I'm so clever, I amaze myself sometimes!"

  • Thanks Dry Bones. Getting the Zelda armor has been my main goal in MH4U for awhile now, but I'm so busy that's it's hard to play online with friends. I have high rank Tesucabra armor, but it's not strong enough for me. Then I thought- I'll just do the single player campaign then. But then I realized this issue of the Zelda armor being obsolete once I get it. It's quite a conundrum.

  • So how are you today Dry Bones? Frostwolf was curious about how you've been doing as well.

  • It saddens me that a lot of event quests are like this. The armor I can get over it but the weapons not being able to upgrade a lot kinda turns me off. A lot of event weapons look great and fun to use but sadly can't be utilized in G Rank due to a lot of them not being able to upgrade past Rarity 7.

  • That's a very good point Jeffrey. I'm more of a defensive player so the armor holds more importance to me.

  • Event gear always been added just for the novelty really. Most don't be very suited for endgame quests but that's not the case with all of them tho.

  • I see what you're saying CB. But if I can't really do any new quests with the event armor, then it seems kind of worthless to me. When this special armor was first revealed in the Japanese version I was super pumped. It's really disappointing to be waiting for this over a year, only to find out that it's used in this way. Kind of a bummer :(

  • well, the zelda armor at max has 10 defense in all elements. and the defense is actually pretty high. not as high as most G rank, but i was running zin armor for high rank for a bit. Ya don't need the greatest, just what suits you.

  • IMO the Link armor is way too difficult to obtain for it's benefits. I upgraded it a little but I rarely used it bec. of it's low defense. So, to get this armor you must already have better equipment to farm this, or players who are very skilled or heal you all the time. They should have made the quest easier or the Link set better.

  • The latest DLC is better, there are funny quests.

  • I haven't actually seen anybody with the armor because people tell me its not worth it. If you are like me and dress good ingame, then find the armor you think looks nice. I'm one of those sad people who think the look is more important... even though Auri says I need defence.

  • FWolf, I don't think you're entirely wrong! Looks ARE important Lol. I wear lower def armor for looks sometimes!

  • I have decided that the Link outfit is worthwhile. I can use it to help lower ranked hunters. What beter outfit for me. I can the be the Hero of time.

  • If I'd use any armor to help out low ranks I'd use the Uniqlo armor. It looks pretty nice and has pretty good skills with a good number of slots. The defense isn't too high either so I'll still need to be on top of my game rather than tank my way through monsters.
