    That's why I usually pick them up after they perform one of their bigger attacks. It usually takes about a second or two of recovery time for them to come gunning for me, just enough time for me to collect their delicious tears. Or shiny gems. Either or.

    Sheath your weapon when you get the chance after the shiny drops. Bait a monster far from the shiny and go for it as they attack. Or, if your playing in groups or with Palicoes, wait until the monster is distracted. That's what I tend to do.

    I have gotten a lot of Gems/Mantels from shiny drops. Why wouldn't you pick them up? Its a good idea to pick them up.
