    Yes. When you beat the final boss, you get a password. When you start a file on the other game type in the password and you start a linked game. What this does is start you with the basic sword and shield, gives you the same animal buddy, you can find passwords that give you upgrades in the first game you beat, and changes the ending slighty. I hope this helps.
