My new High Score! Donkey Kong 3 for NES is fun, I don't get the hate that this game gets sometimes. It's not as good as Donkey Kong or Jr. and it doesn't have Mario but it holds it's own as A fun arcade style game. I bought this along with Battletoads from Funcoland (now Gamestop) back when they existed. I had so much fun playing this game, good times. So glad they released it on Wii U VC.

  • You probably already know I love DK3. I agree

  • I agree. ALL Nintendo games from that era are classics. Pure gold. Ha! Funcoland. I remember that. Used to love looking at the list of inventory in Gamepro magazines, dreaming of stocking up on so many NES, SNES, and Genesis games at great prices.

  • Yeah, this game is gold! Shame it gets alot of criticism for being different, but I love playing DK3. It's still fun and simple to play but challenging like the arcades, which makes it fun.

  • Same here, I used to look at those Funcoland list papers and dreamed of owning most of those games on that list at the time. I still have some of those Funcoland catalogs and some of the Funcoland NES sleeves as well. My TMNT: Manhatten Project, Mega Man 6 and A couple others are in those sleeves and play great to this day.

  • Funcoland sounds like a theme park with Krusty the clown at the helm haha! Sounds like it was a great place to purchase games from :) Love DK 3, it's a great little shooter!

  • Funcoland was A great place for gamers to buy games. DK3 is an underappreciated gem that without Funcoland, I may never have discovered the game when I did or have the memories I have with the game.

  • I got my copy of DKjr.Math at Funcoland for 4.99, the price tag is still on the back. Good luck finding the cartridge at that price now!!! I grew up with DK and DKjr on atari2600/c64 and DK3 on NES. I didn't get DKjrMath until I was like 15.

  • Yeah, that game cost way more now, especially complete with box and manual. I remember the Atari 2600 ports of DK and Jr., fun ports for their time.

  • since we already had DK and JR on Atari/c64 is one of the reasons why we only got DK3 for NES back then. Now though I have that DK Classics cartridge too.

  • My introduction to DK was in Donkey Kong Classics on the NES. The 2 in 1 Gamepak that included Donkey Kong and Donkey Kong Jr. I remember being so young playing it for the first time and confused how the Mario sprite I adored from Super Mario Bros. ended up in another world and in another game. My first NES Remix experience, lol!

  • Anyway, I love the box art to Donkey Kong Classics. Brings back memories. I remember you posting your rendition of it HIGHSCORES. That was an awesome post.

  • Loved DK Classics on NES back in the day! It was so cool seeing 2 games in one catridge, especially with both games being classics. I still have that original cartridge!
