You know, NFS has really evolved over the years. Most Wanted is great, & as much of a thrill I get from it, the only NFS game that still gives me that true adrenaline rush is Need for Speed Hot Pursuit 2....that was published in 2002, a now 13 year old game. back then things were so different. let's take the cars for example. there were no visual statistic bars of speed, handling & acceleration,--

    No, you had to drive it to find it's weakness & strength. the Dodge Viper, it had ALOT of horsepower, a very heavy car, but the rear end had a tendency to slide during sharp turns. or the Ferrari 550 Barchetta, that car had the shortest gear ratio in the game, meaning you could reach top speed the fastest above any other car. the downside was that the turning was very stiff, you had to hit the--

    E-brake around sharp turns just to keep from slamming the wall. the Lamborghini Diablo 6.0 VT, that car was balanced out well, it was also one of the four main cars of my choice. the others being the powerful Ford Mustang SVT Cobra R, the amazing Ferrari F50, & the fastest car in the game, the awesome McLaren F1 LM. but it wasn't just about the cars, what about the cops? in Most Wanted it's--

    About quantity, with droves of cop cars swarming you to try & stop you. but in Hot Pursuit 2, it was all about quality. you had one cop, who would call for backup (which was only one more cop) but that was enough. those two cops were your worst nightmare in a race! they would try legitimate law enforcement maneuvers, such as the pit maneuver & more. personally, the hardest one to evade was when--

    One cop would pull alongside you while the other got in front of you & slowed you to a stop. the only escape would be to brake before they did & try to T-bone the cop to your side & spin him out to get away. let's not forget the OTHER backup, such as roadblocks, spike strips & the helicopter which would drop those dreadful containers that, if touched, would blow your car sky high!--

    I also got a kick out of hearing them talk over the radio. they said better things than now. like when you passed a cop at high speed, he'd say "county 31, a guy just blew my doors off!" or in the middle of a pursuit they'd say "gentleman, let's see how that fancy car drives on the dirt" before they ran you off into, you guessed it, the dirt. my all time favorite was at the end of a pursuit, when-

    Would say this "46 county, this guy is gonna kiII somebody! I'm discontinueing pursuit" for me, those were the real NFS days. no customizing your cars, (except for paint color & automatic or manual transmission) no battle takedowns, no dozens of cops, just outrun the cops & cross the finish line first....that is what NFS is all about, & they captured all of it in Need for Speed Hot Pursuit 2....

    Wow, that game sounds amazing! I've seen a couple of pictures of it, and I can't say I love the graphics, but it sounds like a high quality game. What console is it for?

    I've got the GameCube version, but there is a better graphics version for the Playstation (1 or 2, not sure which) It's probably the last really good, genuine NFS game left. you should definitely try-

    Man, hearing all that makes me wanting to play some of the other older NFS games again... Ah nostalgia. Unfortunately for me, the only older NFS game I have is Underground :(

    your totally right man hot pursuit 2 was and still one of my all time favorite retro NFS games, when i first played it in the ps2, i was astounded by it's graphics back in the days and the Merc CLK-GTR is my main car along with Ferrari f50, man you really brought back those nostalgic days
