After using the GS for around... 700ish hunts, it's time to broaden my horizons, can anyone spare a few tips on how to PROPERLY use the IG? I had the resources to fully upgraded the Tigerstripe Zamtrios IG because I like how it looks. And yes, I got effect

Extender bug called the Bilbi-somethin'somethin'. Also, I have the Star Knight Armor gemmed in for Sharpness+1 and Evasion +1. So as of now, that'll be my generic IG set until I grasp the weapon more.

Grab a red essence from the monster's head then R + B. All the time. Make sure you follow the basic combo of x > x > a > repeat after you have the red essence and free hit time. This is hard. IG is a complex weapon, and even the basics are tough to explain without being able to directly show you. If you're down for some hunts, tell me and I'll help you learn.

Appologies for the late response, partly due to me being in class, and a dead phone battery. Yeah, it is quite a complex weapon, way more than a GS. But it seems fun to use! I'd be down hunting with you one of these days! Unfortunately not today as I have a ton of homework to be doing.

... the mechanics for the gaive are actually surprisingly complex... I will attempt to go over the basics in some detail... First we will go with the most complicated part of the weapon: the insect. As you probably already know, the kinsect probably the most useful and finicky part of the weapon, and the least popular part of it. In short, your goal when using the kinsect is to hit the monster

in three different areas, in order to obtain all three extracts, each with it's own unique effect: Red boosts attack power orange boosts defense white enhances the powers of orange and red and increases attacking speed slightly green gives you a miniscule amount of health and is easily spamable for quick healing in some cases... along with these effects, the combinations of the red and white

and orange and white also add other bonuses: Red+white increases your attack combo rate slightly and increases attack power. Orange+white increases defence and acts as low grade hearing protection. if you get all three boosts at once, you will enter a "super mode" where attack and defense gain a large boost, and you gain the ability to pull off an infinite combo (x>x>a>x>x>a>x.....) the best

way to control the kinsect itself is to just use the auto-targeting system, by hitting a monster in the part you want an essence from with a targeting shot (hold R, aim the pink reticle with the camera controls, and release to fire it) if you hit the monster with the target shot, the kinsect will hone in on that specific body part... you can also hold R and hit x again after you send out the

kinsect to have it adjust it's trajectory, which comes in handy if the monster moved away from it's original position... you can continue adjusting the trajectory multiple times, and even after it hist the monster, allowing the kinsect to hit the monster multiple times in a row before returning... there is also a manual way of controling the kinsect without the target shot, but adjusting the

trajectory and dodging at the same time without the target shot is next to impossible, as the kinsect goes whatever direction you are facing relative to what direction you were facing when you sent it out, or last adjusted its trajectory... it gets confusing very fast... the one feature that draws most new hunters to the weapon is the vaulting feature, which is one of the major benefits of using

the weapon... the vault can be used as a counterattack of sorts if you can leap over a charge attack, and attack the monster's back before landing... however you do not have any invincibility frames during the vault, so usually the superman dive or the rolldodge would be a better choice... there is also a interesting technique that can allow you to change your trajectory midvault

that I call "backpedaling" that can come in handy in some situations... if, in midvault, you have the targeting reticule for the target shot out, you can fire it mid air... firing it will throw you in the opposite dirrection that you fired it, allowing you to change where you land, if you deem it necessary, making it more useful as a last second evasive maneuver... it can take some getting used

to...... that pretty much covers the most important technical aspects of controling the weapon... as for upgrading the kinsect, most people would agree that speed is the most important stat to boost if you want it to actually hit anything or get anywhere at a decent pace...
