i have not found a single gold skulltula nor do i know where to look. on walls? do they run on the ground with other enemies?

    look in the spider web on your map the closer you get the sound will got down and you will hear them also you might need an item to find them

    Skulltulas appear in specific locations on the map, they don't move they sit in one location for a set period of time and flee if not defeated before then.

    In most maps, they'll spawn in one of about two different locations. Search within the web on the map when they spawn to get an idea of where to look. The music will drop out when you're close and you'll a scratching-like sound. Use this to find it.
