Yeah, didn't even get a trophy on my first time on 200cc Special Cup XD I was by items 3 times in a row on Cloudtop Cruise right before the finish line, so I probably would've did better if that hadn't happed.

Yes, this game focuses on luck rather than skill based off the final lap. I got screwed over the first time on Water Park placing 7th which lowered my chances of gold.
