A friend at my school says that Smash is too hard. He questioned me on what a side and up special were. He's also a Sonic fanboy and says Sonic Lost World is amazing.

If he thinks it's too hard, then help him. Teach him how to play. Don't just judge him because he's never played it before.

Well, it takes time to learn. The more he tries and the more you help, the better he'll get.

The only reason why I would be mad at him was because he thought there would be a story mode. I told him to get Brawl instead. But after trying the Wii U version, he didn't think that he would be able to do any better on the Wii, which is why I'm helping him.
